I'm always introduced to crappy, CGI infested paranormal / haunting themed films, movie theaters, and DVD, and it really gets annoying. You know, after seeing this movie I'm shocked. I recommend this to anyone who likes found-footage horror films that are done very well. I gave this a 7-star rating because of all the above. The end scene was gross, but necessary to keep in step with the story. Easily, it's a movie I'll watch again at some point. I don't have anything to complain about with this film. The storyline, while not original, was executed nicely. I don't know what they spent on this movie, but the special effects were fun and not overdone. Usually, I find that to be an annoying, out of date, and rather obvious sign that the movie is low budget. Most of the movie, like other found footage films, is shot with camcorders. The acting was very good, though I have to admit Mark was really getting on my nerves for about the first 30 minutes. ![]() This movie, however, did a great job with the story. ![]() Anytime I hear a movie is based in a sanatorium - and quite a few horror movies have been - the end result has not been pleasing to me. I actually skipped watching it for about 3 days, until I finally decided I was bored and I had nothing to lose by investing about 90 mins. ![]() ![]() ![]() In Pushout, she documents factors from the prevalence of zero-tolerance policies and exclusionary punishment to racial bias. Morris spent four years speaking with black girls about their experiences in traditional and alternative high schools, as well as schools in juvenile detention centers across the country. ![]() As I was watching girls come in and out of juvenile detention facilities, it was really important for me to explore what was causing the disparity, and how it might look different from the experiences of boys.” “Much of the conversation about the school-to-prison pipeline was really anchored in the experience of boys and young men. “Writing that street novel really paved the way for me to explore this issue more deeply,” Morris says. Morris has been working on Pushout since she published Too Beautiful for Words in 2001 - a novel written from the perspective of a pimp, a sex worker, their son, and a female Black Panther - which became popular among girls in detention facilities. ![]() ![]() ![]() Consequently, the story focuses on the rapport between the members before revealing the interspecies relationship at play. Thus, before the narrative reveals that one of the family members of the Cooke household was a chimpanzee it showcases the protagonist’s psyche and family dynamics. Hence through her hindsight she pieces together her memories to decipher her childhood that was unusual, to say the least. The protagonist, Rosemary, is an emotionally troubled young adult in the initial parts of the story before it delves into her past. The Cooke family is a progressive yet dysfunctional family whose past defines their present relationships, attitudes, and behaviors. The story is both about family and complex social issues of the late 20th century as it explores subjects such as human and animal psychology and the relationship between both. Transcription tells the story of Juliet Armstrong, jumping back and forth between World War 2 and the 1950s. When I read the plot summary of Transcription, also by Kate Atkinson, I knew this was a book that I wanted to read. It was beautifully written and the kind of story that I didn’t want to end. Last year, I read the amazing Life After Life by Kate Atkinson it’s stayed in my memory for a long time (not least because several chapters deal with the Spanish Influenza and the way in which chains of transmission made a difference to the protagonists life: going through a pandemic means those sections have remained vividly in my mind). ![]() ![]() Babies Ever After/ Earn Your Happy Ending: In the end, Jemima does get to keep and raise several eggs, of which four ducklings survive.Affably Evil: Jemima's sandy-whiskered "friend" is unfailingly polite, even when implying that he'd like to eat Jemima's rival, the hen.An Aesop: Don't judge people by their superficial appearances, and if a stranger randomly offers you help, he might have a nefarious ulterior motive. ![]() ![]() Jemima hatches a plan to lay some eggs at a secret location away from the farm and receives assistance from a generous sandy-whiskered gentleman, who may not be quite as altruistic as he seems.
